JAMMU: Former President Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Jammu and member AIIMS Coordination Committee (CC) Jammu, Y.V Sharma congratulated the people of Jammu for giving wholehearted support to 72 hours Bandh call given by AIIMS CC which was consequently withdrawn after the agreement between CC and the Government.
He said that Government’s vacillating attitude towards the issue has complicated the matter as proposed AIIMS meant for Jammu was shifted to Kashmir.
“One of the parties in coalition government which was given massive mandate by the people of Jammu constantly talked of discrimination against Jammu before the elections and got votes on the plank that it would end the same if it come to power. However, after coming to the power the party compromised with the interests of Jammu on many accounts”, he said adding that it was unfortunate that people of Jammu have to agitate rigorously for a genuine cause and when the situation worsened with AIIMS CC’s 72 hours Bandh call, the Government handed over the written commitment that announcement for AIIMS in Jammu will be made before 2oth July 2015 by the central government.
He however said that AIIMS CC should remain cautious and united to carry on with this agitation in case the government fails to accomplish what it has promised.
