JAMMU: Coming down heavily on the State Government and BJP in particular for perpetuating discrimination against the educated youth of Jammu while divesting them of their due share in employment, Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP and former Minister, flayed it for treating them like ‘disposables’ and sought equitable treatment for them at par with their Kashmir counterparts. He was addressing a press conference here on Wednesday.
Alleging large scale bias and prejudice against Jammu youth in selections during the last two and a half years, Harsh said that highly biased nature of selections had shaken the faith of the educated youth of the region in the present dispensation as well as in recruitment agencies including PSC and SSB.
He said that the research conducted by the Panthers Party in the respective select lists revealed abysmally low share of Jammu region in the said recruitments as compared to Kashmir which was in the obnoxious average ratio of around 10:90.
He cautioned the State Government and the BJP leaders in particular that the regional bias in selections and the harassment of the underemployed had caused a severe embitterment among the youth of Jammu which could explode anytime and prove fatal for the ominous dispensation.
He said that it happened for the first time that a constitutional body like PSC had come under several public criticism for its arbitrary and discriminatory functioning. Rebuking the BJP-PDP Govt for misleading the people of Jammu in the name of equitable treatment, Singh said that never before had Jammu region been subjected to such wild and hostile discrimination.
Dubbing the State Government’s announcement of ex-gratia and jobs to NoKs of slain militants and thousands of stone pelters as highly obnoxious and insane, Harsh lamented that the ruffians, vandals, hooligans and illiterates were glorified in Kashmir while the highly educated nationalist youth of Jammu region were discriminated, exploited, suppressed and quelled.
He exhorted the State Government to dole out justice to Jammu youth in the sphere of selections and employment in government jobs as they were the biggest casualty in the discriminatory policies of the present regime.
Not only the selections, the Jammu youth witnessed the most hostile discrimination under Udaan, Himayat schemes besides PM’s scholarship schemes, regretted Singh. He cautioned the govt to stop testing the patience of educated youth of Jammu as the simmering volcano could explode any moment causing serious ramifications. Gagan Pratap Singh Gen. Secretary Young Panthers was also present during the press conference.
