Jammu University SC/ST employees allege step motherly treatment
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association alleged step motherly treatment being meted out to them by the university.
The association members asserted that the University has provided accommodation to all Unions/ Forums/ Associations for establishing their offices in the campus but they have denied the same to Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association which is the only government recognised body in the University.
The members alleged that number of representations submitted to the authorities by their association in the last thirteen years, have remained unaddressed. They said that even Interim Orders passed by the High Court given in case of category employees are not considered by the authorities.
They said that since 2008, the University Grants Commission has, several times, given instructions to the University authorities to provide membership to SCs and STs in the competent bodies like University Council, Syndicate, Academic Council, Establishment Committee, etc. but no step has ever been taken by them to comply with the instructions.
Members further said that it is quite apparent from the seniority lists of Library Professional Assistants issued by the administration that the quota reserved for the SCs and STs in promotions, have not, till date, been filled up which is a sheer violation of reservation rules and the law declared by the Apex Court in this regard. The association demanded that the backlog quota for the said categories be got calculated from the day the University started providing reservation and be filled up immediately.
