Jammu sizzles at 40.2 degree Celsius

JAMMU: The winter capital of the state on recorded another hottest day at maximum 40.2 degree Celsius.
The maximum temperature on Wednesday recorded was 40.2 degree Celsius while the minimum was 24.9 degree Celsius, a Met official here said. He said that the mercury will further soar in the coming days. However, the soaring temperature has forced residents to stay indoors.
“Temperature will keep fluctuating between 40 degrees to 45 degrees maximum but showers will also lash in Jammu with thunderstorm,” said a weatherman.
He said that monsoon will also hit the state in first week of July thus giving respite to people from hot weather conditions.
The State Government has already closed schools for summer vacations from May 29 to July 17.
Doctors have advised elders and children to have lot of water intake and cover their face and body while riding two wheelers.
Famous Ranbir Canal and River Chenab witnessed heavy rush of visitors as they were seen dipping into the chilled water to beat the heat.
The hilly destinations like Patnitop, Nathatop, Sanasar, Matalai, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar are witnessing heavy rush of visitors in view of rising temperature.
