STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: An audacious fidayeen on the Pakistani side of the Wagah border has alerted the BSF authorities across Jammu frontier in the wake of Assembly elections in the state.
IG Jammu frontier Rakesh Sharma on Monday said, “a high alert has been sounded and security grid has been beefed up along the international border in Jammu Frontier to prevent any infiltrator from entering inside the Indian territory.
“We never compromise on security but in view of yesterday’s incident, we have sounded alert and also directed our commanders to intensify vigil,” BSF officer said while reviewing the preparedness along the border.
The IG said, “The security cover has been increased from Kathua to Akhnoor and the jawans have been asked to remain more alert.”
He further added that as the elections are round the corner in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, BSF troops are already guarding the border with more alertness, adding, “we have also identified some of the sensitive areas along the border, where special measures have been taken with regard to security”.
He further added that the embankments and the border fencing which got damaged in recent flash floods has also been repaired and added, “there are certain locations where the terrain is tough but adequate security has been put in place to keep check on any kind of ‘unwanted’ movement along the border.
