JAMMU: Expressing serious concern over BJP’s complete surrender before its alliance partner PDP, Senior Vice President JKPCC and former Minister Sham Lal Sharma on Tuesday alleged that Saffron brigade in the lust of power has put the interest of Jammu to stake by abiding to decisions made by PDP without going through merits.
Alleging that BJP the so-called nationalist party has been successfully swayed by its coalition partner to nurture anti-India stance, Sham said that it was unfortunate that statement made by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri in State Assembly that Government endorses the announcement by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for ex-gratia to stone pelters of Kashmir unrest was not opposed by any of the BJP Ministers or Legislators present in the House including Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh. “Surprisingly, the BJP contingent in State Assembly was seen thumping the desks giving nod to concessions offered to those who were involved in waving IS and Pakistani flags, burning of state edifice including school buildings and attacking security forces after the killing of terrorist Burhan Wani for around four months”, he added. Sham further pointed out that the Deputy CM had given a statement regarding the killing of Militant Burhan Wani that his death was accidental which is unbecoming for a party that boasts of being a nationalist outfit.
He categorically said that there is no point in giving compensation to anti-national elements who were involved in death and destruction. “Instead, the victims of Amarnath land row should be considered for the compensation since none of those were involved in any sort of anti-national activity”, he asserted adding that their case is fit for such kind of concession.
Lambasting BJP over its failure to take a stand in the Government as far as policy decisions are concerned, Sham said that few days back State Working Committee of BJP opposed the decision of the government to provide ex-gratia to the stone pelters but despite release of grants for the stone pelters of Kashmir BJP Ministers and MLAs have so far maintained stoic silence over the issue. Demanding party’s clarification on the issue, he said that BJP’s muteness speaks loud about its failure and also negates its claim of being a nationalist party.
“As far as Jammu region is considered, the BJP has utterly failed to deliver justice to the region or its people”, he maintained.
Sham asked the people of Jammu to judge the real face of BJP and teach its leadership a lesson for undermining their aspirations and hopes.
