Jammu Newspapers Editors Guild celebrates 76th Independence Day, hoists Tricolour

JAMMU: Jammu Newspapers Editors Guild (JNEG) celebrated 76th Independence Day with its members and others by unfurling the National Flag at the premises of Hotel Lemon Tree Jammu. This was followed by singing of National Anthem by all.
Chairman JNEG, Raj Daluja (Editor-in-Chief State Times), President A.K Sawhney (Chief Patron Journey Line), Vishal Chopra (Editor-in-Chief Jammu Metro), Ram Dubey (Editor Kattu Satya), Iqubal Qazmi (Editor Daily Udan), Vijay Gupta (Editor Young Bites), Vinod Gupta (Editor Truly Times), Amit Sawhney (Editor Journey Line), Puneet Aroroa (Editor-in-Chief Early Post) amongst others were present on the occasion.
At the outset, Raj Daluja and A.K Sawhney congratulated all the citizens in general and the members of the Guild in particular on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day of the nation.
Speaking on the occasion, Raj Daluja, Chairman JNEG said that the Guild is a national-spirited organisation of Editors fraternity of J&K and its all constituents are united on the issues related to national interest and are bound to fair reporting and promote whatever is in the national interest.
He highlighted importance of celebrating the 75th ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the day when the India got its freedom from the colonial rule after large number of persons made sacrifices. He said that on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava”, Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was undertaken by the masses of India.
He greeted people and dedicated this Mahotsav to the people of India who have been instrumental in bringing India this far in its evolutionary journey. Paying rich tributes to the freedom fighters, Daluja said that the Nation owes gratitude to the great leaders who sacrificed their lives to secure freedom from foreign rule.
Speaking on the occasion, A K Sawhney President JNEG congratulated the people, participants on the occasion of 76th Independence Day, spoke about the need to rededicate ourselves to work with sincerity and devotion to the welfare of society.
Sawhney said that on this important day we should take special pride in saluting our beloved Tricolour. He added on this beautiful occasion we need to recall with pride and gratification the great sacrifice of our freedom fighters, whose undying love for our beloved country secured us our freedom.
Sawhney further said that on this important day we should bow our head in memory of all those brave jawans and all our brave citizens who have sacrificed their lives for the cause of unity, integrity and progress of our great nation.
Later, a plantation drive was also organised on the occasion of Independence Day in the premises of Hotel Lemon Tree, where all the member of the Guild and general public also participated.
