Jammu, Ladakh suffered discrimination due to Article 35A: DSS
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: The Jammu and Ladakh regions have suffered the worst of discrimination over the years due to the back door imposition of Article 35A.
This was stated by President Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) and former Minister, Th Gulchain Singh Charak at a meeting held here on Saturday.
Ex MLC, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal observed that the Chief Minister has out rightly ignored the sentiments of the Jammu and Ladakh regions before making her recommendations to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. She has consulted even the arch political rivals but not these much larger areas and population to whom also she is the Chief Minister and who have brought her to power in the Coalition Government.
“Will the holding of abrogation of Article 35A in abeyance bring peace to the trouble torn, restless areas in the Kashmir Valley part of J and K State as assured by the Chief Minister?” is a big question asked General Jamwal. The DSS members felt that the action on abrogation may be withheld for some time to see if the bloodshed, violence and stone pelting stops in the Valley as assured by the Chief Minister.
Political Observer, Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, VrC remarked that unfortunately, the PMs assurance, as reported in media, has also come without caring for the deprived, discriminated larger population of J and K as also the West Pakistan and PoJK refugees, who are the worst hit by the discriminatory Article 35A and living in oblivion without any political representation.
Complementing the Kashmir leadership, the President DSS said that for any Kashmiri cause even arch political rivals and all hues of leadership gets together in Kashmir to pose a common front, which unfortunately is not the case in Jammu region. He exhorted all intellectuals, factions, leadership, trades, communities and groups to wake up! Take an example and get together in one voice for the cause of Jammu.
