Jammu to face Doda in divisional U-19 cricket

JAMMU: District Jammu shall be playing against Doda in the final of the under-19 boys’ cricket tournament, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), at GGM Science College Ground, here on Wednesday.
Earlier, in the semifinals, played on Tuesday, Jammu outplayed district Poonch by five wickets. Batting first, Poonch scored 74 runs losing all their wickets in 15 overs. Shehnaz Munir remained top scorer with 24 runs. For Jammu, Pavit emerged as most successful bowler with three wickets while Dinesh claimed two. Rakhsit and Samad shared apiece each.
In reply, Jammu attained the goal of 75 runs made in 13.3 overs losing five wickets. Manish played fine innings of 30 runs, followed by Areeb and Satyam, who added 12 runs each to the total. Meanwhile, in the semifinal, District Doda beat Samba by a big margin of 56 runs at another venue of Government High School, Satwari Cantonment. Earlier, after winning the toss and decided to bat, Doda set a target of 138 runs for nine wickets in given 20 overs with Zeeshan (31) and Ajay (18) being top scorers. Sahil claimed four wickets while Vishal and Arun shared two each for district Samba. Later, chasing the target, Samba could make 81 runs losing all their wickets in nine overs. Sagar was only batsman to cross the double figure mark with 20 runs in his account. Aaqib claimed three wickets and Vinay took one. The matches were officiated by the technical panel including Saleem-ul-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Suresh Singh, Madan Mohan, Farooq Ahmed , Jagtar Singh and Satika Sharma.
