Jammu-based NC leaders must clarify their stand: BJP
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: The State unit of BJP has termed the opposition by National Conference to observing September 23 as State Holiday in honour of Maharaj Hari Singh as most unfortunate. The party reminds National Conference that it was Maharaja Hari Singh who crowned Sheikh Abdullah as Administrator and then the Prime Minister of the State.
“It was Maharaja Hari Singh who had given his consent for the Constituent Assembly of the state for framing the State’s Constitution. Had Maharaja not shown his magnanimity, there would have been no rule of NC in the State,” said Balbir Ram Rattan, BJP State Spokesperson in a press statement issued here today. Balbir Ram Rattan, while charging the NC for being a party of anti-Jammu, anti-Maharaja and most opportunist, asked its leaders to go through the history before opposing the resolution of Legislative Council which seeks declaration of holiday on the birthday of great Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh. He said that the NC should not forget that their present existence is the gift of the then Maharaja, who had showered his blessings on Sheikh Abdullah.
Balbir Ram Rattan questioned the Jammu based leaders of NC, particularly Devender Rana, who is riding in two boats because of his political compulsions and asked him to clarify whether he subscribes to ideology of NC, which has always been anti-Jammu and valley-centric or he honours the sentiments of Dogras.
