Jammu based employees to meet Div Com today; defy CS’s order
JAMMU: Notwithstanding the Chief Secretary’s order which directs all the state government employee to resume their duties at Srinagar, the Jammu based employees of the secretariat and other departments have rubbished such instructions.
They demanded safe places to stay and work as water level in most of the area is between 8 to 20 feet. “Under present conditions, how the officials can work when almost all the record of various departments is under water.
Many Jammu employees informed that they paid money to local boatmen to get out of their rented accommodations. “Our group paid Rs 30,000 to boatmen on 5th September, 2014 to reach up to Gupkar road from where we went on foot to Nehru Helipad, said a Jammu based Civil Secretariat employee. A large number of KAS and other senior officers were stranded there after saving their lives,’ junior employees informed.
“Our hotel at Indira Nagar is still submerged. We have to again pay Rs 30,000 to reach the hotel,” he added.
“The government should make arrangements first then only can we go,’ he demanded.
“Still number ofJammu based state employees are reportedly missing. No one knows about their whereabouts. We will meet Divisional Commissioner Jammu tomorrow to know the plans of the Chief Secretary to shift us to Srinagar, the employees stated.
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway is closed. Today morning another land slide took place near village Gingroo near Ramban. And, the road opening parties have assured that for next four days there is no chance of highway opening.
“Most of the civil secretariat staff hails from Kashmir. Why they are not being called to offices if CS wants to run the government,” said Jammu based employees.
