STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, a district-wide inspection drive targeting ultrasound and imaging centres across various sub-divisions was conducted on Wednesday.
The Deputy Commissioner, who also serves as Chairman of the District Advisory Committee for the Pre-Conception & Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, has called for a zero-tolerance approach towards violations of the Act. The campaign, led by Sub-Divisional Magistrates and other senior officers, covered nearly two dozen centres in different areas of Jammu district.
SDM Jammu North, Nitish Rajora, spearheaded the drive in his sub-division, where notices were issued to two centres for deficiencies found during inspection of seven facilities. At Bakshi Nagar, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, along with his team, inspected eight ultrasound and imaging centres. One facility was found operating with an expired registration. The centre was sealed on the spot and the proprietors were instructed to renew their registration before resuming operations. Across other subdivisions, similar inspections were conducted at eight facilities under the supervision of SDMs Satish Sharma in Akhnoor, Seema Parihar in RS Pura and Athar Amin Zargar in Marh. Records at these centres were found compliant with regulations, including the maintenance of mandatory documentation, proper certification and adherence to the prohibition of sex determination. The administration directed all facilities to display required notices and warnings prominently, as mandated by the PCPNDT Act.
