JAMMU: Joint Action Committee (JAC) (General Category), J and K cautioned the political class to refrain from dividing the society on the basis of caste and since J and K is enjoying special status under Article 370, it must be protected under the ambit of rule of law.
Talking to media persons here on Saturday, Narayan Singh, President Rajput Sabha, informed about the sheer partisan approach by Dy. Speaker Nazir Gurezi, Minister Ch. Zulfikar Ali and other pro reservation MLAs who called on the Chief Minister and are pressurising the government to issue fresh directions to departments on the issue of ‘No Reservation in Promotions’
“This is an utter bullying and sheer misconstrued design of the elected representatives who have conspired to demean the rule of law and are forcing government to go in for contempt of Court orders on the subject,” he said adding that the attempt of these MLAs is to cause further erosion of Article 370 and special status granted to the State of J and K under the Constitution of India.
The members of general category irrespective of caste/creed/colour and religious affïliations from all parts of J and K including far off areas like Kashmir , Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Samba, Kathua, Reasi who participated in the press interaction.
Ved Prakash Sharma, Convenor JAC and President Brahman Sabha said that under mischievous design certain MLAs have formed an unholy consortium irrespective of party affiliation to pursue their nefarious objective of seeking passage of Bill overruling the Judgment of High Court striking down the Reservation in Promotion Rules 9, 10 and 34 and Sec 6 of Reservation Act 2005. JAC asked general category people to impart awareness about the ill conceived action of these MLAs.
“The action of these MLAs speaks volumes of the brewing hatred among them against GENERAL category masses and they have breached the Oath of Constitution taken by them while assuming the charge. They have built an unholy consortium on the basis of caste to seek minding of merit and seniority,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion Vinod Gupta, President Central Mahajan Sabha expressed serious concern and displeasure over the conduct of these MLAs whose approach has become partisan as is evident from the fact that they are trying to bring amendments to overrule the justice delivered by judicial system after thorough scrutiny of rules/ merits of case in vogue.
Captain Anil Gour, Secretary (Org) JAC, spoke about the grave injustice being meted out to general masses by way of providing caste based reservation, whereas the reservation if at all needs to be provided must be on economic basis irrespective of caste, creed and colour. Reservation on economic basis is a realistic solution for achieving the goal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas’, he said.
The abolition of reservation in promotions will go a long way in providing relief to general masses as Supreme Court in Indira Sawhney case had stated that reservation in promotions is unconstitutional, he added.
Salim Bandey Convenor JAC Poonch highlighted that the judgment of High Court and subsequent proceedings are testimony of the fact that these judgments have corrected a constitutional anomaly which was depriving general category incumbents of their constitutional right of equal opportunity of advancement of their career and represents the aspirations of 70 per cent of the population.
“The people of State have full faith and confidence in the visionary leadership of Mehbooba Mufti, Chief Minister that she will not succumb to the pressure of these MLAs who are hell bent to undermine the constitutional position of Article 370 and are making efforts to erode it,” they said.
