Jammu: Ahead of assembly polls, 147 complaints of different natures with regard to Model Code of Conduct from various political parties were received by Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Electoral Officer, of that 52 were disposed of, a senior official said on Thursday.
“Since the announcement of assembly elections and imposition of Model Code of Conduct in the state, J-K has received 147 complaints of different natures from various political parties pertaining to various violations,” an EC official said.
Some complaints were received through Election Commission of India and some at the level of CEO itself, he said.
Out of these, 52 complaints have been disposed of and 95 have been referred to various quarters for conducting enquiry and ascertaining the details, the official said, adding that “till date, no complaint of serious nature has been received by the CEO”.
However, all the complaints received from various quarters are monitored minutely and disposed of as per the guidelines of the EC in a transparent manner, he said.
In order to prevent the Model Code of Conduct violations in the state, the CEO has taken several measures and put up a systematic mechanism.
“A close vigil is being maintained by the flying squads constituted by DEOs in the entire district,” he said. (PTI)
