J-K Police to set up inventory management system
Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Police will set up an Inventory Management System (IMS) to provide real-time information about stocks, requirements and procurement of the force.
The force has invited Expression of Interest (EOI) from organisation and firms to design, develop, install, commission and implement the Inventory Management System.
Police have invited EoI to set up the system covering all equipment and uniform stores of J&K Police spread across all districts and system integrators to study and automate the set up, AIG, Provision and Transport, Police Headquarters, Sheikh Junaid said.
Jammu and Kashmir Police has a total strength of nearly 75,000 personnel and 224 police stations across the state.
The system is aimed at facilitating all horizontal and vertical end-users hooked to the system to have updated and real-time information pertaining to indents containing stocks, requirements, procurements, purchase, surveys of received items with acceptance or rejection user interface holdings of stock items and subsequent distribution and allotment, he said.
It is aimed at giving real time information on records pertaining to items issues to employees and subordinate formation units of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
It will ensure maintenance of electronic ledgers containing transactions pertaining to inventory management and process paperwork in timely manner, the EOI order said.
It will ensure automation of manual practices and procurement development in management, it said.
At present, the overall posted strength of the Police Department is 74,913 and there are 224 police stations in the state.
The government said apart from 224 police stations, 228 police posts also exist in the state.
Out of 224 police stations, six are women police stations, 11 are in railways, two CID, two belong to the Crime Branch, one tourist police station and seven anti-human trafficking units.
228 police posts, including 20 in railways and 108 border police posts, also exist in the state. (PTI)
