JAMMU: The house of a contractor, running a construction company was on Tuesday raided by a team of Income Tax Department, J&K Circle in Trikuta Nagar.
“The residence of O P Nargotra at Sector 4, Trikuta Nagar was raided this morning by IT sleuths,” an official said, adding that some documents and official records have been seized. The investigation is on, he added.
The contractor was running his firm in the name of M/S O P Nargotra and Co, Engineers and Builders.
“There were inputs that he had not filed IT returns despite huge assets,” said an IT official.
He further said that it was not the lone case but in the coming days, more IT raids cannot be ruled out as people who are not filing their IT returns and having valuable assets (moveable/immovable) will not be spared. “We have collected some records, bills, receipts and important documents on which purchases of various goods and items worth lakhs was made but the details will be scrutinised for further action,” said an official.
