ISM Nodal officer receives, distributes funds on Govt order
n In 2015-16, 2360 activities conducted for 1,58,399 patients under AYUSH Mission

JAMMU: Denying the allegations of funds diversion and utilisation of National Ayush Mission, a spokesman of Directorate of ISM has clarified that all the district officers in order to meet the expenditure incurred during the IEC activities had submitted their bills amounting Rs. 3,50,013, to the office of Nodal Officer Jammu Division which were after scrutiny forwarded to the Office of Accounts Officer Directorate General of Indian Systems of Medicine.
Since, National AYUSH Mission has no prescribed financial management code in its operational guidelines for disbursement of money directly into the accounts of the District Officers.
The ISM spokesman further states that the Accounts Officer after verifying the bills transferred the said amount into the account of Nodal Officer IEC Jammu Division Dr Rohit Gupta, who without wasting any time disbursed the same amount to the district officers in the form of payee account cheques , proper receipts of the same was obtained.
The amount was drawn by the district officers within a period of 15 days. The utilization certificate was submitted to the Directorate General accordingly, the ISM spokesman said.
Referring to the press conference held by one Pushwinder Singh on Thursday, the ISM spokesman said that “the allegations leveled against Dr Rohit are baseless as the funds were deposited in Dr Rohit’s account by the government order and paid to concerned district officers on government order.
Pushwinder Singh was provided half information to defame the department in general and Dr Rohit in particular, the ISM spokesman said, ” It would have been better if Pushwinder could have verified the facts before giving baseless and malicious statement before the press.
Moreover, giving brief summary of IEC activities of Directorate General of Indian Systems of Medicine, Jammu Division, the ISM spokesperson said, “In order to promote AYUSH services in Jammu Division and to revitalize rich tradition of natural healing, Director General of Indian Systems of Medicine conceived IEC Program in 2014-15, wherein in all 3,598 activities organised wherein 2,42,136 patients were examined, 1,968 Monthly Medical Aid Camps organized by ISM Dispensaries in their surroundings and examined 1,13,469 patients.
1,458, school health check-up and health awareness programs were organized in the Schools and Anganwadi centres of the surrounding areas where in 55,153 children were examined.
70, Free AYUSH Medical Camps organized in Primary Health Centers wherein 12,048 were examined and treated through AYUSH systems of health care and 111 Mega AYUSH camps 61,466 patients were examined and were given free AYUSH treatment.
During the year 2015-16, in all there were 2,360 IEC activities were organised in which 1,58,399 patients were reached, 1,230 Monthly Medical Aid Camp and peripheral OPDs were organised in which 65,136 patients were seen, 986 school health check-up programs cum health awareness programs were organised in which 33,285 children were reached and given AYUSH treatment, 62 AYUSH Medical Camps organized in PHC under NHM where 7,079 patients were examined and treated by AYUSH medicines.
82 Mega Camps were organised in which 52,899 patients were examined and given free AYUSH treatment.
Under National AYUSH Mission, IEC &BCC, Public Health Out-reach programs were organised in every district of Jammu Division to promote AYUSH systems of health care, a statement issued by Directorate of ISM stated.
