JAMMU: The Kashmiri Pandit (KP) community living in Jagti Township on Monday threatened to launch a massive agitation against apathetic attitude of administration against neglect of the community.
In this regard, a meeting of Jagti inmates was held in which important issues confronting KPs in general and migrant camps in particular were discussed.
The meeting said that Relief and Rehabilitation Minister issued important instructions to solve the problems of migrants in a high level meeting convened with heads of various departments and Relief Commissioner. “Despite directions of the concerned minister, the Relief Commissioner and other departments have not initiated any measure to provide respite to the affected KP community which is in distress since long”, the meeting said.
“For the last 3 years, the Relief organisation has become defunct and paralyzed and is not providing any effective solutions to people”, the meeting alleged.
“Though, many representations were made to Relief Commissioner to solve the problems including installation of auto-cut transformer at water filtration plant and alternative well to facilitate water supply, construction of examination hall and installation of generator at HSS Jagti, simplification of bifurcation and medication assistance to ailing persons and issuance of RBA certificates, repair of roads, buildings and maintenance of parks, etc but nothing concrete came to fore and people are living a hard life”, the meeting asserted.
The meeting warned Government to immediately address the problems otherwise KPs will be forced to launch a massive agitation against the Government and Relief Organisation.
The meeting also decided to frame a development committee for taking up the cause of KPs that will take up the issues with Chief Minister, concerned, minister and if needed it will approach Government of India.
