Introduce Sanskrit in schools from class first: Sham Lal

JAMMU: Choodamani Sanskrit Sansthan Basohli, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology Jammu, Central Sanskrit University, Shri Ranbir Campus Jammu and Shri Kailakh Jyotish & Vedic Sansthan Trust, Jammu jointly organized a function, as a part of Dr Uttam Chandra Shastri’s birth centenary celebrations. A special lecture of Shankaracharya Swami Adhokshajanand Dev Teerth Maharaj ji was organized in Central Sanskrit University Shri Ranbir campus, where former minister and BJP J&K Vice-President Sham Lal Sharma was the Chief Guest. Prof Madan Mohan Jha, Director CSU and Vice Chancellor SKUAST-J Prof J P Sharma presided over the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Shankaracharya Swami said that Sanskrit is necessary for the nation. “Sanskrit is soul and culture of the nation. Gurukul tradition is basis of India’s culture and is soul of India’s eternal culture,” he added. Speaking on the occasion, Sham Lal said that Sanskrit and Dogri preserve Sanatan culture and we all should work together for upliftment of the same and Sanskrit should be introduced in all schools from the class first so that students can lean the same easily.
Vice Chancellor J P Sharma said that Sanskrit works to connect everyone. The function culminated with formal vote of thanks by Campus Director Prof Madan Mohan Jha.

The programme was coordinated by Dr Harishankar Pandey and Naveen Tiwari.
