JAMMU: Taking initiative of organising interaction sessions on socio-political, economic, constitutional and developmental issues of Jammu region, the Interaction Forum Jammu Province organised interactive session, here on Saturday.
Before the start of session, tributes were paid to Netaji Subhash Chander Bose on his birthday. Justice O.P Sharma was the Chief Guest.
The participants discussed the post independence scenario of Jammu Province as regards its political, economic, constitutional and developmental issues and ethos which have been totally dismal with un-concerned attitude of the Centre and State governing dispensations.
“It is high time that the people from all areas, shades and sections of Jammu region forge broader unity, think, interact and collectively address the long pending issues of the region,” the speakers said.
They also said that an environment needs to be created where all people of Jammu region are made aware and motivated with unified approach towards the protection of interests of Jammu province.
“The forum will evolve further and take the appropriate shape to forge broader unity of Jammu province and interact, deliberate, resolve, create awareness and take such issues to the logical conclusion by creating an environment and develop mechanism by pooling up wisdom, of the people to protect the social, developmental, economical and political interests of Jammu province,” they mentioned.
They said that the agenda of the session was, to indentify the core issues which concern the social, economic, political and developmental interests of Jammu province and give suggestions for devising a mechanism for protecting the interests of Jammu province viz-a-viz the other regions of the State and also suggest constitutional and legislative requirements to address the core issues.
The significant core issues which emerged in the brainstorming interaction include forgoing broader unity among all areas and sections of the Jammu province, equitable distribution of resources on the basis of area and population vis-a-vis the local needs, delimitation of Parliament, Assembly and local-self bodies, formulation of polices to address unrest among the unemployed youth, farmers, migrants, refugees, pensioners ex-servicemen, traders, consumers, non regularized employees, and also eradication of corruption from public life, Lokpal, ensuring speedy justice and good governance.
