Mughal’s decisive goal helped Friends Club Bhadarwah to clinch title

BHADARWAH: In the high octane final match of inter-village football tournament played on Wednesday, Friends Football Club defeated G.R Azad Club by one goal to nil.
Till both the halves none of the teams were able to score. Their sense of adventure grew as the game wore on and, ultimately, Saad Mughal’s decisive goal for Friends Club in the last minute of extra time won a test of endurance and lifted the trophy.
Earlier, Friends Football Club defeated GDC Bhadarwah and G.R Azad Club outplayed Sarna Club in semifinals.
The tournament in which 16 teams of the district took part was organised by Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit based at Bhadarwah College Sports Ground, here.
In the closing ceremony, Commanding Officer RR unit Bhadarwah said, “Our aim is to provide a platform to the talented youth to let them locate their hidden skills and utilise their capabilities at the professional level.”
“Army is always there to provide them all the help by giving them a platform to perform,” he added.
While appreciating the efforts of Army to boost sporting activities in this hilly region, NCC officer Arif Rana, said that army is playing a big role in tapping the raw talent and capabilities of otherwise introvert youth of this region.
Other dignitaries present during the award giving ceremony include Arif Rana, Khakhan Malik, Vivek Verma, Prof Javed Iqbal, Pritam Singh, Aftab Mingnoo and Nand Pal.
