Inter village Cricket Championship concludes;Star Warriors crush Manjal Club in final, lift trophy

BHADARWAH: In a one sided match Star Warriors Bhadarwah inflicted a humiliating defeat to Manjal Cricket Club Bhalla in the finals of Inter Village Cricket Championship, here on Sunday. The one month long tournament in which 68 teams from rural areas of Tehsil Bhadarwah, Bhalla and Doda participated was organised by Tamanna NGO in collaboration with Rashtriya Rifles based at Bhadarwah.
Manjal Cricket Club Bhalla beat Raina Cricket Club and Star Warriors Bhadarwah beat Boys Higher Secondary School Bhadarwah in their respective semifinals to reach the finals of the tournament which was played at Sports Ground of Boys Higher Secondary School Bhadarwah.
After winning the toss, Manjal Cricket Club elected to bat first and was bundled out on 55 runs in 12 overs by the pace attack of Star Warriors Bhadarwah. Only one batsman Babloo of Manjal could reach double figures with 19 runs. Arif and Aadil of Star Warriors took five and four wickets respectively.
In reply, Star Warriors scored the required runs in just 3.2 overs for the loss of one wicket.
Beside distinguished guests which include BJP District President Advocate Manjeet Razdan who was the Chief Guest, 2IC RR Lt Col Bikramjit Singh, Balbir Singh Dy Commandent CRPF, ZSO Pritam Singh and Parveen Jariyal, hundreds of spectators witnessed the finals.
Beside winners and runner-up Trophy, a cash prize of Rs 12,000 and Rs 10,000 were given to the winning and losing team respectively.
