JAMMU: The Ninth Inter-School Taekwondo Championship, organised by Rakwal Taekwondo Club, got underway at Sprawling Buds School Chinore in Bantalab, here on Friday.
A good number of boys and girls are participating in this two-day competition in different age and weight categories representing various educational institutions.
Director Sports, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), Ashok Kumar was Chief Guest in the inaugural function while District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Sukhdev Sharma was Guest of Honour.
Both these special guests, accompanied by Deputy Commandant CRPF, D.S Bisht also gave away medals to the winners of opening day events.
Today’s bouts were officiated by the technical panel including Sanjay Kumar, Mukta Gupta, Arvind Satti, Narinder Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Balvinder Singh Bhau, and Sunil Singh.
The detailed results: BOYS: Sub Junior: 13 kg: Jeevan Jyot Singh (Ankur Playway), Ist and Ujjwal Singh (Ankur Playway), 2nd. 14 kg: Saksham Sharma (BSF), 1st; Ayaan Choudhary (Kids Club), 2nd; Swastik (CRPF) and Shahnoor Ahmed (Kidzee), joint 3rd. 17 kg: Neev Sangra (Rich Harwest), Ist; Anmol (Rich Harwest), 2nd; Rayaan Manzoor (Kidzee) and Vikrant Singh (Play Way), joint 3rd.
