Nikhil of KPS Barnoti wins badminton title

KATHUA: Nikhil of Kartar Public School (KPS) Barnoti lifted the of u-19 badminton singles and Raghav and Divansh of DPS Rajbagh lifted Doubles titles in the ongoing inter school tournaments being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Kathua under the overall supervision of District Sports Officer Subash Chander Bhardwaj.
At DAV Lachhipur, Nikhil of KPS Barnoti lifted the title of badminton singles by defeating Anshu of Nav Adarsh School Kathua by 2-0 sets.
Earlier, Anshu outplayed Varun of RSJN Kathua by 2-0 in first semifinal and Nikhil trounced Arun of DPS Rajbhag by 2-0 in second semifinal.
In doubles, couple of Raghav and Divansh of DPS Rajbagh crushed Nikhil and Pranav of Little Angels Kathua in final by 2-0. In first semifinal, DPS Rajbhag outplayed KPS Barnoti by 2-0 and in second, Little Angels Kathua defeated RSJN by 2-0.
Meanwhile, Bhardwaj inaugurated the competitions of Kick Boxing for u-19 boys at Sports Stadium Kathua.
In Kick Boxing, Sulaksh Sharma of RSJN Kathua, Prikshit Singh, Abhishek, Madhav Sharma, Aman Inder Singh of Little Angels HSS Kathua, Arshad Hussain of GHSS Kathua, Samply Kumar of GHSS Kiran, Tarbjeet Singh and Puneet Sharma of DAV Kathua got gold medals in below 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80 Kg weight categories respectively. Aryan Saran of DAV Kathua stood first in above 80 kg weight category.
Kuldeep Singh, Rakesh Manhas, Pankaj Spolia, Chinta Devi, Romesh Singh, Darshan Kumar, Omkar Nath officiated the today’s events. Activity Incharges, Mohan Lal, Dharminder Singh Shally, Hari Gopal, Ajay Kumar were also present.
