POONCH: The Inter School Competition for boys in various disciplines concluded in Poonch with enthusiastic participation and competitive spirit.
Organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Zone Poonch, the event featured competitions in Kho Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Chess, and Badminton across two age groups: under 17 and under 14.
Approximately 829 boys participated in the competition, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship under the guidance and supervision of officials from the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
The competition was conducted as part of the activity calendar issued by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu & Kashmir, under the direction of Subash Chander Chibber, Director of Youth Services and Sports, and Ved Parkash, Joint Director of YSS.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Mool Raj Uttam, and Zonal Physical Education Officer, Narinder Singh, played pivotal roles in ensuring the smooth execution of the event.
The gathering was warmly welcomed by Zonal Physical Education Officer, Narinder Singh, who encouraged all participants to compete with sportsmanship and integrity.
All matches were conducted under the technical supervision of Physical Education Masters (PEMs), Physical Education Teachers (PETs), and other officials from the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Zone Poonch.
Pawan Kumar, a Physical Education lecturer, served as the overall incharge of the competition, overseeing its logistics and smooth functioning.
Kabaddi: GMS Purani Poonch emerged as the winner, with GHS Banwat as the runner-up.
Kho Kho: GHS Banwat clinched the victory, while Government High School Purani Poonch secured the runner-up position.
Volleyball: High School Purani Poonch was declared the overall champion, with Nanak Academy Poonch as the runner-up.
Chess: Nanak Academy claimed the top spot, followed by Government High School Purani Poonch as the runner-up.
Badminton: Nanak Academy Poonch emerged victorious, with GMS Kasallian Poonch finishing as the runner-up.
The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries and officials from the Zone Poonch, including Smt. Sarla Bakshi, Harjeet Kour, Rajesh Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Devinder Singh, Varinder Singh, and all the PETs, REKs, and NYCs who contributed to the success of the competition.
Overall, the competition not only showcased sporting talent but also promoted sportsmanship and healthy competition among the youth of Poonch district. It served as a platform for young athletes to excel and fostered a spirit of camaraderie and excellence in sports.
