Inter-college competitions of JU;Narmita of GCW Gandhi Nagar bags Cross Country gold

JAMMU: Narmita Katoch of Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar bagged Cross Country gold in the ongoing inter-college competitions of University of Jammu (JU), organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education on the campus, here on Tuesday.
Second place went to Stanzin Yngol of GCW Parade while Kiran Devi of GCW (women) Kathua remained third. Earlier, 11 athletes, representing eight affiliated college of JU, took part in this competition.
The competition was witnessed besides others by Sumnesh Sharma, Dr Vinod Bakshi, Suman Sharma, Pardeep Sharma, Prof Ashok Kumar, Sudesh Bhagat, Narayani Jamwal, Vinay Manhas, Nirmal Singh, Harsimran Singh and Raj Kumar Bakshi.
KHO-KHO MEN: The SPMR College of Commerce beat GDC Kathua by one point (9-8) an innings; PG Departments beat GDC Rajouri College by three (08-05) points .
WOMEN: GWC Parade beat GCW Udhampur by 01 (08-07) point. Matches were officiated by the technical penal including Anil Kumar, Gagan Kumar, Ankush Sharma, Mohd Israr, Ajeet Singh, Avishesh Sharma, Pooja Sharma and Shivali Bhau.
CHESS WOMEN: GCW team beat GCW Udhampur team 4-0: Sushmita Jamwal beat Sonia Devi; Sonali Manhas defeated Kajal Sharma; Akriti Kotwal blanked Natasha Sharma; Hansja Sharma beat Suchita Sharma. MEN: MIET beat GDC RS Pura 4-0: Vikas Kotwal outplayed Amandeep; Abhishek Gupta beat Sahil Dogra; Agrin Pandotra defeated Vikram Choudhary; Rajant Sharma trounced Naresh Kumar. GDC Udhampur beat GGM Science College 2.5-1.5: Rahul Sharma downed Akhil Singh; Shivang Gupta blanked Shubham Slathia; Ankush Sharma lost to Sourav Singh Bagerwan; Raghuveer Singh held Kunal Sharma to draw. PG Departments of JU team beat GDC Reasi 3-2 in best v/s best game: Kulveer Singh Parihar beat Pranav Sharma; Ishan defeated Anikat Sharma; Hiteshwar Kesar lost to Pushbinder Sharma; Sahil Sharma lost to Abhay Kumar Kesar. In best v/s best game, Ishan trounced Abhay Kesar. The chess competition is being officiated by S.P Sharma and Sushil Sawhney under the supervision of Event Incharge, P.D Singh.
