MAM men, PG women win badminton titles
JAMMU: Government MAM College in men section and Post Graduate (PG) Departments in women category emerged winners in the inter-college badminton tournament finals played at Gymnasium Hall on the University of Jammu (JU) campus, here on Wednesday.
In women’s title clash, PG outplayed GGM Science College 2-0. The Results: Prabjot Kour beat Diksha 21-12, 21-19. Doubles: Prabjot and Akanksha Raina defeated Diksha 21-05, 21-14.
Meanwhile, in men’s final, MAM College trounced Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua 3-1.
In the finals, Chairperson Campus Culture Committee, Prof Prameshwari Sharma presented winners trophy to the teams. She was accompanied by Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau. Also present were Romesh Sharma, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Balbir Singh, Jai Bharat and Ashok Kumar.

BASKETBALL: Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua won the opening match of the inter-college men’s basketball tournament which got underway at MA Stadium, here on Wednesday.
In the only match played, GDC Kathua defeated MIET College 59-29 by a comfortable margin. Avinash, Amit and Shubham played well for Kathua. The competition was officiated by the technical penal comprising of Aman Sharma, Manpreet, Vikas, Rajesh Bandral and Saktish Chopra.

HOCKEY: Mahant Bachiter Singh (MBS) College of Engineering and Technology defeated Government SPMR College of Commerce 3-2 in the inaugural match of the annual inter-college hockey tournament, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, JU at K K Hakhu Stadium, here on Wednesday.
Navdeep Singh struck twice for the winning team in the second and 27th minute of the game. The third goal came through Jagandeep Singh in the 59th minute. For Commerce College, Devinderpal Singh and Jaspinder Singh netted the ball in the fifth and 49th minute of the match respectively.
The competition as officiated by the technical penal including D Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh and Jasbir Singh. P.D Singh is Official Incharge of the tournament.
In total, 12 teams in men section and seven in women section are participating in this knock-out competition.
