Volleyball: GDC Ramnagar, PG among semifinalists
JAMMU: Semifinals lineup has been drawn with Government Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar, GDC Udhampur, Post Graduate (PG) Departments and GDC Hiranagar making it to the last four stages of the inter-college men’s volleyball tournament, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus courts, here on Thursday.
In the quarterfinals, GDC Ramnagar, GDC Hiranagar and PG Departments made it straight sets win while GDC Udhampur facing resistance from MAM College before making it a 2-1 win.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical penal including Rajan Sharma, Amit Sharma, Sangita Bhatt, Priya Charak and Prableen Kour.
The Detailed Results: Quarterfinals: GDC Ramnagar beat GDC Samba 2-0 (25-23, 25-20); GDC Udhampur defeated MAM College 2-1 (25-21, 23-25, 8-15); GDC Hiranagar trounced GDC Paloura 2-0 (25-15, 25-18); PG Departments downed GGM Science College 2-0 (25-28, 25-20).
WRESTLING: Preliminary round of competition was held in the inter-college men’s wrestling event on the campus today. Today’s bouts were officiated by the technical penal including Jai Bharat, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Bansi Lal Tidyal, Sahil Sharma, Dheeraj Sharma, Gurdeep Singh and Dr Kamal Sharma.
The Detailed Results: 57 kg: Sunil Singh, GDC Samba beat Dharam Paul, GDC Rajouri; Riaz Mohd, GDC Paloura defeated Jabbar Hussain, MAM College. 61 kg: Dharam Veer Singh, GGM Science College outplayed Deep Kishore Singh, PG Departments; Shiva Kumar, GDC Kathua trounced Mohd. Younis, GDC RS Pura. 65 kg: Sudhesh Singh, GDC Hira Nagar blanked Vikas,GDC RS Pura; Lalu Din, GDC Kathua downed Asif Nawaz, GDC Rajouri. 70 kg: Ranjeet Singh, GDC Rajouri defeated Anuj Singh Andotra, GDC Kathua; Shabir Choudhary, MAM College beat Shubam Kohli, Commerce College. 74 kg: Jeevanjot Singh, PG Department outplayed Deepak Sharma, GGM Science College; Ashiq Hussain, GDC Kathua overpowered Mohd. Mushtaq, GDC Hira Nagar. 86 kg: Shajad Ahmad, GDC BIllawar trounced Hardeep Singh, Commerce College; Shubam Sharma, GDC Akhnoor beat Nadeem Khan, GDC Rajouri. 97 kg: Deepak Chowdhary, GDC RS Pura blanked Shubam Sharma, GDC Hira Nagar; Mohd Asif, PG Department downed Man Manik Singh, GGM Science College.
KHO-KHO: Government MAM College on Thursday defeated Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura to enter the next round of the competition underway on the campus, here.
The MAM College made it a six points win. Other scheduled matches ended in walkover. Today’s match was conducted by the technical individuals including Anil Sharma, Anil Kumar, Ankush Sharma and Gagan Kumar.
