JAMMU: Maryam Khatoon of IRP 15th Bn clinched one gold medal each in the Archery 30 meters and 50 meters events on the third day of the Inter-Battalion Sports Meet of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP) which got underway at different venues, here on Monday.
Second place went to Manorma of IRP 15th while Asha Jamwal of IRP 15th Bn remained third in Archery 30 meters event held at Gulshan Ground, here. In Archery 50 meters event, second place went to Sheetu Pandita of IRP 15th Bn while Manorma of IRP 15th Bn got third place.
Meanwhile, in team event of Basketball, IRP 17th and IRP 19th won their respective semifinal matches to advance into the final of the competition being held at Gulshan Ground, here.
Results: IRP 17th beat JKAP 9th by 10 (30-20) points and IRP 19th defeated IRP 7th by 25 (42-17) points. Gulshan was top scorer for IRP 17th, who scored 15 baskets while Avinash Dingra scored 29 baskets for IRP 19th Bn.
Sameer Kotwal shall be playing against Swaran Singh Kotwal in the Table Tennis final of the Gazetted Officers (GOs) event, here tomorrow.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Samir (SP) defeated Daljit Singh (DySP) in straight 2-0 sets (21-13, 21-15) while Swaran Singh (SSP) trounced Nasir Khan (SP) 2-1 (16-21, 21-17, 21-06).
In Lawn Tennis, Nasir Khan (SP) sailed into the semifinals beating Swaran Singh Kotwal (SSP) in straight 2-0 sets (6-3, 6-3).
Meanwhile, in other individual events of women’s category, IRP 15th Bn dominated in Wrestling and Athletics.
