Every country has its share of fools and traitors, and India has received a bigger share. In Europe and America, politics is cut-throat, and the differences of opinion are sharp. But when it comes to national interests, differences are forgotten and the nation rises with one voice. It’s only in India that the ‘intellectuals’ stick to ideas that have failed and been rejected elsewhere.
Recently, an ‘intelectual’ fumed over the fact that Doordarshan had telecast RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s speech live. This luminary had nothing to say about the content of Bhagwat’s address. He was just concerned with the person who delivered it! Then there was another Indian ‘intellectual’ who advised the President of the United States not to be carried away by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s charm but wait till the latter delivered. With friends like these, who needs enemies!
