‘Install statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk’

JAMMU: Activists of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Chowk Coordination Committee and Youth Wing of Aam Aadmi Party staged protest against the government demanding installation Statue of Amar Shaheed Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk.
Convener of the Committee, Sukhdev Singh condemned the attitude of the government in causing delay for announcing the name of Kunjwani Chowk as Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Chowk and for not installing the statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at the Chowk. He demanded that the demand of the community to install statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at the already decided place be immediately full filled without any further delay as the former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had agreed for installing the statue.
“Speaker J and K Legislative Assembly had also announced Rs 10 lakh from his CDF for the same. Moreover MoS PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh and BJP National Secretary R.P Singh had also assured that they will definitely take up this issue with the government but no concrete steps have been taken in this regard so far,” he added.
President Aam Aadmi Party Youth, Vipul Bali said that the demand for naming of Kunjwani Chowk in the name of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur has already been taken since long and a representation in this regard was also furnished by the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Foundation to the Secretary to Government Housing and Urban Development Department J and K and after recommendation of the case already lying with the government. Moreover, All India Manhas Mahasabha has also urged the government for granting the approval for naming the Kunjwani Chowk in the name of Baba Banda Singh Bhadur, he added.
Among others who joined the protest include Manmohan Singh Member DGPC Jammu, Kulvinder Singh President Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chand Nagar, Jammu, Manjeet Singh Ex-Secretary DGPC, Brig. Rajinder Singh, Manjeet Singh, Jagjot Singh Raina, Inder Mohinder Tar Singh, Surinder Singh Shinda, Jagjit Singh, Amandeep Singh, Vishal Arya, Himanshu Gupta, Anita Gupta, Bilal Khan, Meenu Mahajan, Mehar Singh, Jagmeet Singh Bali and Pardeep Sharma.
