JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh on Wednesday said the government has undertaken a massive programme for ensuring sustained development of far flung and rural areas.
The Deputy CM was addressing a huge gathering at Lakhri after paying obeisance at Sukrala Devi Temple in Billawar.
While addressing the gathering, Dr Singh said the government has sanctioned and started works worth Rs. 300 crore in Billawar and 50 per cent of them have been completed so far.
He said the black topping works at Billawar Bus Stand, Matador Stand and Dayalachak Challan road have been completed while as blacktopping of Dhar road is under progress and blacktopping of Billawar to Sukral Road at Rs. 2.55 crore and Billawar to Bhaddu at Rs. 4 crore have been completed.
He said that under PHE sector, 40 new hand pumps have been drilled in Billawar constituency, toilet complex at Bus Stand for 27 lakh has been constructed while as Community Hall at Mela of Rs 30 Lakh cost is under construction, 100 bed hospital at Billawar at the cost of 21 crore is at final stage, and work on Indoor Stadium at Billawar soon will be started.
He further said that Rest House building at Billawar for Rs. 178 lakh is almost complete while Critical Care Ambulance of Rs. 35 lakh has also been provided. He said Community Hall at Ramkot for 50 lakh is under construction. Referring to the works undertaken under R&B sector, Dr. Singh said that Jothana Bridge of Rs 47 crore is at soil testing stage and tenders have already been floated for 21 new PMGSY roads and one new bridge of Katni Parnalla of Rs. 102 crore.
