JAMMU: As a part of Congress nationwide series of “Mehangai Pe Charcha” meetings in all assembly constituencies from August 17 to 23 that will culminate in Mehangai Par Halla Bol mega rally in Delhi’s Ramlila maidan on August 28.
JKPCC today under the leadership of former JKPCC Chief GA Mir and JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla in presence of JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, PCC General Secretary Yogesh Sawhney, JKPCC General Secretary Manmohan Singh, JKPCC Treasure Rajnish Sharma, AICC Member Vandana Makhnotra beside others started the campaign against price rise by organizing “Mehangai Pe Charcha” organized by PCC Secretary Satish Sharma and Corporator Pritam Singh at Kunjwani area of Gandhi Nagar constituency. Later Congress leaders organized a protest rally against govt for failing to ensure security of minorities in Kashmir valley.
Mir said that the Congress Party will take this fight forward with a series of protests against the price rise and unemployment in the coming weeks.
“Inflation is being exacerbated by higher taxes on essential goods like curd, buttermilk, and packaged food grains, while the transfer of public assets to crony capitalists and the introduction of the misguided Agnipath scheme are making a bad employment situation worse,” he said.
Mir claimed that India’s 50-crore poor comprising socially and economically weaker sections in rural areas and urban slums are pushed to acute poverty under the effect of inflation.
Bhalla said that inflation has affected people at all levels. Even a cup of tea is now beyond the reach of the common citizens. The Centre has not taken any firm steps to control skyrocketing prices.
“The BJP government’s cluelessness about the economy and financial management has been out in the open for long now. Instead of accepting it and seeking guidance from experts, the BJP only resorts to trickery to create an optical delusion,” Bhalla alleged.
Yogesh Sawhney and Manmohan Singh accused the government of deliberately increasing the prices of petrol and diesel. They demanded that the Central reduce its excise duties on petroleum products.”The Modi government has completely failed in keeping its promises to the people of India. The need of the hour is for different parties to set aside their differences and come together to change this government,” they said.
