Industries asked to follow pollution control guideline

SAMBA: General Manager (GM), District Industries Centre, Samba Satish Sharma, along with the District Officer, Pollution Control Board, Anil Sharma, on Wednesday conducted surprise inspection of industrial units in Samba district.
Functional Manager, DIC Dr. Riaz Ahmad and other officials of District Industrial Centre, were also the part of the inspection team.
The inspection was conducted on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Mubarak Singh.
The inspection team, during the during the checking specially inspected the pollution control measures taken by the pesticide formulation units and pharmaceutical units.
The units inspected included UPL Ltd, Pioneer Pesticides Ltd, Shivalik Agro Ltd, Ind-Swift Laboratories and Ind-Swift Ltd.
The Air Pollution Control Devices (APCD) and Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs) installed in these units were inspected and their functional status was verified.
The unit holders were instructed to strictly adhere to Central Pollution Control Board guidelines. On spot instructions were issued for housekeeping and maintenance of general hygiene of the unit. The unit holders were asked to abide by the safety standards and protocols.
It is pertinent to mention that DC Samba, in view of various complaints, has constituted teams for surprise checks and inspection of these units.
As per the General Manager, DIC Samba the inspection drive would be further intensified in the coming days and violation, whatsoever, shall not be tolerated.
