Induction meeting of GNM staff nurses held

JAMMU: The induction meeting of first batch of 10 General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) staff nurses posted in various institutions of the Jammu Division namely Poonch, Rajouri, Samba and Jammu Districts who have been selected after written test and counseling for BPCCHN Programme to be held at IGNOU Programme Study Centre at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar was held here on Wednesday.
Dr Madhuri Slathia, Medical Superintendent, Dr Robinder Khajuria CMO Jammu, Dr Joginder Kumar Yadav Regional Director Jammu, Dr Harjeet Rai DNO Jammu NHM J and K and Dr Asha Upadhaya Assistant Director IGNOU Jammu were present.
Academic Counselors who would be teaching the candidates were also present. They included Dr Anil Mehta Gynaecologist; Dr K.R Sangra and Dr Pankaj Gupta Paediatricians; Dr Usha Sharma Physician, Dr Monika Khajuria ENT Specialist, Dr Rohit Kohli Consultant Dentistry; Dr Ashwani Orthopaedician, Dr Vinay Chib MO Stores and Counsellors Arooj and Bhanu Priya. All 10 staff nurses were present on the occasion. Dr Arun Sharma Dy Medical Superintendent, who is Programme In-Charge for this programme through IGNOU, gave a detailed presentation about the BPCCHN programme.
The Certificate in Community Health for Nurses has been developed in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The programme aims at improving the knowledge, skills and competencies of in service registered nurses to enable them to serve as competent human resource essential for strengthening the primary health care services at peripheral level.
Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar along with District Hospitals Udhampur, Anantnag and Baramulla have been designated as Programme Study Centers, for this programme.
The programme is of six months duration but the nurses have option to complete it in maximum of two years and will be offered in both January and July cycle of admissions. The candidates are selected by the government and will be sponsored by the State Government with support of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
