STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Chairman All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference, Shafiq Mir urged upon the Indian civil society to play an immediate role in Kashmir and get stopped the excess of government forces on civilian population of Kashmir.
Expressing grave concern over the situation, Mir said in a statement issued here on Monday that whole of the Kashmir Valley is under house arrest and each family is in state of shock and wailing but nobody is there to wipe-out their tears and console them.
Expressing grave concern over the situation and the cold response of Central Government, Mir said that it is matter of deep pain that during his recent visit to State, Home Minister of the country Rajnath Singh didn’t bother to visit a single hospital and meet the injured people.
“How can Kashmiri people expect anything good from the government which even didn’t bother to express few words of sympathy with the family members of deceased and injured during violent clashes”, he questioned. It is pertinent to mention here that about 55 people have been killed and more than 3,500 injured in the clashes between civilian people and government forces since 8th July which erupted after the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani.
In his detailed statement issued here in winter capital Jammu, Shafiq Mir said that when there was complete deadlock between the government and protesting people, the role of civil society becomes more important and it is only credible Indian civil society which can play a role of bridge between Srinagar and Delhi so that the shattered faith of the people is restored for the time being. And thereafter, Indian civil society can play an important role to resolve the Kashmir issue permanently which is in the best interest of both India and Kashmir. ” And it is only Indian civil society which can play an important role to resolve this issue because no political party can resolve it due to the political compulsions and fear of exploitation by the opposition”, said Mir.
Describing the role of pro India politicians more shocking as most of them have left Valley and shifted to safer places and people have been left at the mercy of God. He also urged upon the civil society of the State to come forward and bring the State out of crisis taking it as a collective responsibility. He said as the Indian politicians have lost the credibility of their words in Kashmir their assurance cannot work at this point of time. So, it is responsibility of the civil society to come forward and play a role to restore peace. He also urged upon all the pro India political parties to come together and bring the people out from the present crisis.
