Indian Army wins 12 km Rafting Marathon

REASI: Indian Army Team won 12 km Rafting Marathon Championship in the Chenab Challenge-River Rafting Championship-2016 being organised Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Directorate of Tourism, Jammu at Baradari, Reasi, here on Friday.
“Indian Army Team represented by participants of international acumen bagged first position and BSF Team followed closely at second and third position in the 12 km Rafting Marathon Championship,” Defence Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, S.D Goswami.
“The turbulence of currents of river Chenab at Baradari had further intensified owing to sudden change in weather conditions, making it ideal for rafting-marathon event scheduled today,” he said adding that not only the participants but even the locals were enthusiastic to witness the event.
“Rashtriya Rifles Force Headquarters based at Reasi provided necessary administrative and logistic support for the conduct of the event,” PRO Defence informed adding that General Officer Commanding Major General B.V Rao complimented the initiative of Directorate of Tourism and efforts by all the participating teams.
The teams which are taking part in the championship are-IAF, BSF, JKP, ITBP, Tourism Kashmir, Tourism Jammu, Eco Adventures and Indian Army.
