LUDHIANA: University of Jammu (JU) in its first league match convincingly defeated Pune University by 40 runs in All India VCs T20 Cricket Cup.
JU, batting first, scored 159 runs for six in 20 overs. Niranjan Singh scored brilliant 74 runs whereas Summit and Rajesh Salhotra scored 25 and 20 runs respectively. For Pune University, Manish took three wickets and Sunil took one.
While chasing 159 runs, Pune University could manage to score 119 runs only for the loss of nine wickets. For JU Captain Ameet Targotra was wrecker in chief who picked three wickets whereas Dauood Iqbal and Pawan Singh shared two wicket each and Rajesh took one.
Niranjan Singh was adjudged Man of the Match for his outstanding 74 runs. Jammu University Management and coach congratulated the team for its first convincing win over Pune University. University of Jammu will meet GB Pant University, Uttrakhand in its next encounter on 10th November, 2016.
