India shines at CAVA U-19 Men’s Volleyball Championship 2025, to play for bronze

TASHKENT/JAMMU: India’s U-19 Men’s Volleyball team delivered a spirited performance at the ongoing Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) U-19 Men’s Championship 2025 in Tashkent, securing a well-deserved 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan-II in their fourth match. With this win, India has earned a spot in the Bronze Medal match scheduled for June 16.

Displaying grit, coordination, and resilience, Team India won the match with set scores of 25-20, 20-25, 25-19, and 25-22. Mohinder, Kunal, Adarsh, and Rajat were standout performers, showcasing exceptional skill and composure under pressure. The win marks a strong comeback after a tough defeat to Uzbekistan-I earlier in the tournament.
Earlier, India began their campaign with a 0-3 loss to a Iranian side (16-25, 14-25, 20-25) but bounced back with a dominant 3-0 win over Kyrgyzstan (25-14, 27-25, 25-23), proving the team’s potential and fighting spirit. Although they fell to Uzbekistan-I on June 12 (0-3), the squad regrouped swiftly to secure this crucial victory over Uzbekistan-II.
Iran and Uzbekistan-I have progressed to the finals, while India now sets its sights on clinching the Bronze Medal-an achievement that would underscore the rapid growth and promise of the young squad.
Under the guidance of Head Coach K R Lakshminarayan and support from assistant coaches Surinder Kumar and Mohd Javeed, the Indian team-assembled under the supervision of the Volleyball Federation of India’s Adhoc Committee-has shown remarkable discipline and unity throughout the championship.
Manager Kuldeep Magotra praised the team’s resilience, stating, “These players are showing incredible growth with each match. Their passion and teamwork are commendable.”
The 12-member Indian squad features top young talents from across the country, including Mahendra Dhurwe, Rajat Singh, Adarsh Rai, Kunal Das, and others, supported by a dedicated support staff including therapist Dr. Utkarsh Kulshreshta and referee Narender Kshatriya.
As India prepares to face a tough opponent in the Bronze Medal clash, the nation cheers for its young heroes. A podium finish would be a major boost for Indian volleyball and a proud moment for these future stars.
