Jammu: A senior leader of Jammu and Kashmir’s ruling PDP on Saturday batted for resumption of peace talks between India and Pakistan, saying that it was necessary for creating a conducive political atmosphere for stability in the state. “There is a need for creating a conducive political atmosphere for peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir, and for that it is imperative that Pakistan and India revive and resume the peace and reconciliation process,” senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig said here.
Addressing a gathering during an event to pay tributes to former chief minister and PDP patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed’s first death anniversary, he said the months-long unrest in Kashmir last year has affected development and put on hold state government’s plans to take the state to the next level. “The best way to pay tributes and carry forward the legacy of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is to implement his vision for peace, dignity, development and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir in letter and spirit,” he said. Baig said Sayeed had a charismatic personality which made others feel an immediate connection with him. “Even if you had a brief interaction with him (Sayeed), he made you feel like you are his son, his daughter, sister or brother,” Baig said.
Stressing the need to give due respect to party cadres, Baig said Sayeed used to refer to the workers as the “pupil of his eye” and the best way to pay tribute to him was by giving the cadre the same respect.
