India bags Silver as Saqlain bags ‘setter’ trophy

JAMMU: Saqlain Tariq of Poonch in J&K declared ‘best setter’ after India bagged Silver medal in the 38th World Military Games in the discipline of Volleyball held at Iran.
Serving with Indian Navy, Saqlain, former India captain and a professional spiker of the country, impressed the crowd with his exceptional skills at the net.
Saqlain has many first to his credit. From being first spiker from J&K to find berth in the Indian team, Saqlain earned the distinction of being only professional player from the UT to lead an independent team of Delhi Toofan.
“Saqlain has really made entire J&K feel proud of his achievements at the international level. Earning an individual honour at the world stage is something extraordinary. So, such distinctions certainly help encourage other youngsters to follow the path of success,” said president of Volleyball Association of J&K, Siddhath Daluja.
Meanwhile, he entire family of Saqlain Tariq, specially father and coach, Mohd Tariq had movements of joy back home, soon after getting the breaking of news of India winning the Silver and their son declared as ‘best setter’.
