While presenting budget for the previous years, IT (Income Tax) exemption limit was not increased as expected by the Finance Minister. Now the Government of India has enhanced pay/pension of their employees after approving Seventh CPC implementing fitment factor of 2.57. The IT slabs need to be increased accordingly. The present slab for general category appears to be too meager which should be raised to Rs 4.5 lakh, similarly senior citizen need more relief at the fag end of their lives to enable them to have a comfortable living, increasing IT exemption limit up to Rs 6 lakh and aged pensioners attaining the age of 75 years whose taxable income is not more than Rs 6 lakh a year should not be required to file the income tax return as it is very difficult for the aged pensioners suffering with illness/weakness to visit the IT office standing in long queues to fill the return. The Finance Minister is requested to consider the case sympathically and every efforts be made to mitigate the hardship.
