Impressive ‘Shobha Yatra’ taken out on eve of Janmashtami in Jammu

JAMMU: A grandiose Shobha Yatra was taken out on Thursday by the Dharmarth Trust J&K on the eve of Shree Krishna Janmashtami from the historical Shri Raghunathji Temple here.
On the occasion, Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta, Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma, Dr Vishwamurti Sharma, Dr U.C Sharma and Dr P.S Pathania members Dharmarth Trust Council; Advocate Ajay Gandotra, President J&K Dharmarth Trust, Dr Gopal Parthasarthi Sharma, Secretary, Dr Shiv Raina, Chairman Advisory Committee Dharmarth Trust, Raj Kumar Langar, Hira Lal Abrol, Anil Sharma, Anmol Rattan Sethi and Darshan Sharma, Members Advisory Committee DT performed Shree Krishna Shobha Murti Poojan in the Holy Sanctum of Shree Raghunath ji Temple.
Special Invitee Sr Advocate D.S Chauhan, Arun Gupta, President CCI, Parshotam Dedichi, President Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Presidents of various markets and Bazaar Associations, prominent citizens of the Jammu and staff and Pujaris of Dharmarth Trust accompanied the Shobha Yatra.
Chairman Trustee, Dr Karan Singh attended the Shobha Yatra virtually and blessed the management of the Trust for arranging such a mega show. He also prayed for the peace and prosperity of the Union Territory.
The Shobha Yatra was conducted in collaboration with Sanatan Dharm Sabha. The Shobha Yatra started from the Shri Raghunathji Temple and was passed through various markets including Residency Road, Rajinder Bazaar, Kanak Mandi, City Chowk, Purani Mandi, Link Road, Jain Bazaar, Chowk Chabutra, Pacca Danga, Moti Bazaar, Raj Tilak Road, Raghunath Bazaar and finally culminated at Shri Raghunath Ji Temple. A warm and rousing reception was given by thousands of people while flower petals were also showered on the Holy Rath.
Thousands of devotees comprising prominent citizens, politicians and heads of social and religious organizations participated in the Shobha Yatra. Members of Muslim brethren also accorded a rousing reception to the Yatra enroute.
Adv Ajay Gandotra, in his message, felicitated people on Shree Krishna Janmashtami and prayed that this auspicious occasion would be the harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the celebration of festivals, which are an important part of our glorious heritage, strengthens communal harmony and brotherhood and reinvigorates the secular ethos. He prayed for peace and the well-being of the people of the Union Territory.
Tight security arrangements were ensured by the UT administration across the city for the smooth conduct of Shree Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. During the Shobha Yatra various senior police officers also marked their presence to make arrangements robust and incident-free. Heavy rush of devotees was witnessed at the historical Raghunath Ji temple where people made long queues to participate in “Pooja” and other holy rituals. Trust’s President expressed gratitude to the DIG of BSF, Surjeet Singh Sekhon and SSP Jammu for arranging BSF Band and Police Band respectively on this auspicious occasion in the temple premises.
