Impressive Nagar Kirtan taken out ahead of Gurpurab

JAMMU: An impressive Nagar Kirtan was taken out to celebrate the forthcoming Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singhji Maharaj, the 10th Guru of Sikhism who laid down his own life and sacrificed his father, mother and sons for the sake of humanity and protection of right cause of community.
Nagar Kirtan started from Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Jammu marching through Swami Vivekanand Chowk, Gumat Crossing, Dogra Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Asia Hotel, Green Belt Park Gandhi Nagar, Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar Road, Gole Market, FCI Depot, Shivaji Chowk, Khalsa Chowk and culminated at Gurdwara Sri Singh Sabha, Nanak Nagar, Jammu.
Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji, Mukhi Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch, Digiana Ashram, Jammu participated in the Nagar Kirtan and blessed the devotees.
On the occasion people of all colours and creeds participated in which Parcharak Bhai Harjinder Singh Manjhi, Kavishar Bhai Baldev Singh Ji Sabra, Panthak Kavi Bhai Balbir Singh Ji Bal Morinda, Kavi Pandit Sushil Kumar Aman-Ropar, Parcharak Bhai Harmeet Singh Ji-Makhanpur Simbal, Parcharak Bhai Gurmeet Singh Ji-Preet Nagar, Jammu recited the poetry and threw light on the history of life and teachings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
A large number of people from Hindu community also paid their obeisance to Guru Granth Sahib en route.
The Sikh youth played Ghatka enroute and showed many feats during the Nagar Kirtan. A large number of devotees were sweeping the road where from the Nagar Kirtan proceeded.
To greet the Nagar Kirtan the shopkeepers and associations enroute had erected welcome gates. Besides, the stalls serving food items fruits, water and juice to participants were also installed at various places by the people to serve the devotees who had taken part in Nagar Kirtan.
The authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the Nagar Kirtan and the traffic was also diverted from the routes where from the Nagar Kirtan was to pass.
The proceedings of Nagar Kirtan were conducted by the General Secretary of District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu Avtar Singh Khalsa.
Jagjit Singh, President, District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu congratulated the devotees and said that Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj saved the humanity and spread the message of love, equality and worship among whole world. S. Jagjit Singh President of DGPC Jammu also appealed to the Sangat for the participation in the Gurupurab Samgan at Gurdwara Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chand Nagar, Jammu on January 5 from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Similarly, National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana and another senior leader, T.S Wazir joined thousands of devotees during a grand and massive Nagar Kirtan at Gandhi Nagar here.
The Provincial President hoped that Prakash Utsav of Guruji would be observed in the true spirit of the State’s composite culture and prayed for peace and tranquility in J and K.
Former Minister, Raman Bhalla also joined the Nagar Kirtan taken out ahead of Gurpurab.
On the occasion, Bhalla threw light on the life and the preaching’s of Guru Gobind Singh and highlighted the sacrifices made by him for humanity and common masses. He said that Guru Gobind Singh was the richest example of valour and sacrifice and added that he not only inspired the society with his spiritual teachings, but also shown great courage in the battlefield and even sacrificed lives of his sons. He said that we should take inspiration from his life and follow his teachings, his spirit of sacrifice and bravery to contribute constructively to the society.
Meanwhile, former Minister and National Conference Sr State Vice President Surjeet Singh Slathia joined thousands of people and extended a warm welcome to the Nagar Kirtan, taken out in observance of the Prakash Utsav of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
The Nagar Kirtan started from village Pangdoor Samba and concluded at Gurdwara Sahib at Barian Samba.
Greeting the people, Slathia said Guru Gobind Singh Ji was a warrior, poet and a philosopher who strived for building a society based on equality and brotherhood. He said that the values underlying the teachings of the great Guru should guide our endeavours to establish a just social order. Slathia wished Gurpurab to be harbinger for peace in the State and the country and hoped that the celebration of Holy occasion would be observed in an atmosphere of amity and brotherhood.
