The most important technological development in today’s world is social media. It takes many different forms including Blogs, Social Bookmarking, Enterprise, Social Networking, Microblogs, Photosharing, Business Network and much more. The Indian society today is the new ‘high-tech’ society which is extremely dependent on social networking. Everything that was ‘Offline’ earlier, is available Online.
In our society the things that were nearly impossible, with the introduction of social media feel easier now. Social networking sites have integrated into the daily routine of millions of Indian users. The post independence generation holds India’s present and future in its hands. The decision made the patterns set by this ‘Generation of Social Media’ will affect the future. The challenge before the Indian society is to bridge the gap between ‘tradition and modernity’.
When compared to other users, Indian users prefer to spend more time on social networking sites. They interact with people of other cultures, which fascinates them. Being influenced by western culture, Indians are trying to imitate them which results in fading of their own culture and moral values.
Through social media, Indian users get to know about the economical advancement in different countries, which often leads to ‘Brai Drain’. Moreover, all the business ventures in Indian depend upon social media to understand their consumer feedback. This allows them to know about their customer’s choices and hence there is scope for improvement after getting to know about their customers view about their products. An entire social system is changing; and Indian society which was less open or closed has now changed to open society. Indians are becoming more social and interactive virtually. Although, not everybody has access to the Internet and computers in Indian society, the fact that, it is spreading very fast cannot be undermined
