IGP reviews security ahead of Amarnath Yatra

JAMMU: IGP Jammu Zone, Danesh Rana reviewed security arrangements in view of the ensuing Amarnath Yatra which is scheduled to be commenced from 2nd July 2015, at a meeting held here at PCR.
During the meeting detailed briefing was given by the Range DIsG and concerned District SSsP regarding preparation and planned security arrangement in view of the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra-2015.
After discussions, the IGP stressed upon all the officers to activate all their resources available with them to generate intelligence relating inputs directly bearing to Yatra and disseminate the same to all concerned agencies/District SSP for appropriate action to foil the nefarious design of anti national elements and their mentors across the border. He advised army, CRPF, BSF, police and other intelligence agencies to maintain highest level of alertness in view of the inputs received from different agencies regarding planning of militants to disrupt the Yatra. He also directed to the participants for keeping close watch over the anti social elements which are bent upon to disrupt the atmosphere and create law and order problems for the administration for their vested interest.
On the border management front, IGP Jammu Zone stressed upon the District SSsP Samba, Kathua and Jammu to lay joint Nakas on all the infiltration routes for prevention of infiltration from across the International Border.
“All Border Police Stations and Police Posts should be strengthened and proper briefing be given to them by supervisory officers regularly regarding nature of duties to be performed by them.
Night patrolling on national highway should be conducted and a close liaison be maintained with all forces deployed in their area of jurisdictions”, he added. IGP Jammu Zone also advised the BSF/CRPF and army to strengthen their CI Grid on the border and ensure proper ROP is deployed on NHW well in time to provide smooth passage to the Yatris vehicles.
IGP also advised the Tourism Department to issue the advisories/pamphlets for the Yatris containing ‘Dos and Do not’s’ and information regarding pre-paid phones not operating in J and K for the conveyance of the Yatris.
At the end, IGP impressed upon the District SSsP to ensure adequate security arrangements at Base Camp Bhagwati Nagar, lodging centres, Langars en-route from Lakhanpur to Jawahar tunnel for the safety and security of the Yatris.
He also directed them to identify more lodging centres in their respective districts to accommodate the Yatris in case of blockage of road due to bad weather/sliding on NHW.

Div, PMF, officers from all intelligence agencies and Civil Department.
