JAMMU: IGP Jammu Zone, Dr. S.D Singh discussed various security measures to be taken in the run up to August 15 and also took stock of the progress of the security and other allied arrangements being made for the Independence Day celebration throughout Jammu Province.
During the meeting, a detailed assessment on intelligence was given by State and Central Intelligence Agencies. Besides, DIG JK Range, SSP CID SB, Jammu, SSP Jammu, SSP Security/SSP Railways, SSP Traffic City/SSP Tele-communication gave a detailed account of the security arrangements that have been put in place in connection with forthcoming Independence Day Celebrations in and around Jammu City as well as in the Border areas.
All the elements of preparation for the parade were discussed including composition of parade contingents, preparation of venue, anti-sabotage checks of the venues, barricading, traffic arrangements, fire services, medical facilities and other contingencies for Independence Day celebrations. Detailed instructions were issued on spot to the concerned officers for further follow up action on certain points requiring further action.
Singh, while expressing his satisfaction over the arrangements being put in place, asked the officers to work in close coordination with each other with greater synergy. He asked the intelligence agencies, police and SFs officers to step up vigil and security in the district right from now onwards to check any attempt of infiltration, movement of anti-national elements and forestall any ill-conceived plan of terrorists. During the meeting, the district SsP were directed to review the security of vital installations, religious places, minority pockets, crowded places and police/PMF establishments to ensure utmost alertness. Besides, a close watch should be kept on social media activities.
A detailed review of the prevailing security scenario, throughout Jammu zone, was taken. The intelligence agencies also give their assessments with regard to current situation particularly in Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri and Poonch Districts.
SSP Traffic was directed to issue traffic advisory at least three days advance through print /electronic media regarding traffic restrictions in Jammu City to avoid any inconvenience to the general public.
