IGP inaugurates 7-matches Cricket Series;Jammu Rising Stars wins opening tie

JAMMU: Jammu Rising Stars won the opening match of the seven-match cricket series for junior cricketers being organised by Vishal Cricket Club Jammu under the supervision of Rajesh Gill, former Ranji Player, at Parade Ground, here on Tuesday.
In the first match, Jammu Rising Stars defeated Vishal Rising Stars by six wickets. Batting first, Vishal Rising Stars scored 101 runs in 18 overs. Snoop Bhagat (25), Akshit Gandral (21) and Aditpal Singh (17) runs were the main scorers. Abay Tondon, Druv and Sachin Sharma shared one wicket each for Jammu Rising Stars. In reply, Jammu Rising Stars achieved the target in 17.5 overs for the loss of four wickets and won the match by six wickets. Rohan Gill was the top scorer with unbeaten 35 runs, while Sachin Sharma contributed unbeaten 31 and Arya Sachivansh made 15 runs.
For Vishal Rising Stars, Praful Dhar claimed two wickets while Agastya Sharma and Amit shared apiece each. Sachin Sharma was adjudged Man of the Match.
The match was officiated by the technical panel comprising Sandeep, Sanjay and Vinod.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, J.P Singh, Inspector General of Police (IGP) in presence of Guest of Honour, SSP R.K Bhat and Special Guest, Dy SP City, Vivek Shekhar.
IGP advised the budding cricketers to be disciplined, dedicated, hard working and gutsy in cricket and become a professional player so that they get place in national team as well.
He also conveyed best wishes to the participating players.
Prominent persons present on the occasion were Faheem Tak, Vivek Suri, Rajesh Dhar, Sunil Sambyal, Arun and Vijay Saberwal.
