IGP Armed flags off J&K Canoe Slalom Team for Nationals

JAMMU: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Armed Jammu, Shafkat Ali Watali, on Tuesday flagged off State Canoe Slalom Team to participate in National Slalom Championship being held at Indore from 11th of this month.
The flag-off ceremony of the team comprising of 20 paddlers, both men and women, was held here at Railway Station in Jammu.
While flagging off the team for the National Championship, Watali said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has always been at the fore front in promotion of sports in the State be it by way of providing platform to youth by organising sports events under Civic Action Programme (CAP), organising sports coaching camps and last but not the least being an organisation that provides maximum employment to the sportsmen of the State.
Earlier, while interacting with players and the team management, he said that team spirit, coordination and understanding among the players is pivotal to get desired results in national level events.
“These events always provide launching pad for the players to excel at international levels and help in earning name and fame for the State”, he added.
He hoped that the players will play to their best potential and will bring laurels to the State. Later he wished the players well for their participation in the national event.
Among others, the flag off ceremony was attended by Sham Sunder Sharma, SSP APCR Jammu, P.D Sharma, Dy. CO IRP 14th Bn., Kuldeep Handoo, Sports Officer J and K Police, Bilquis Mir, Secretary General of J and K Water Sports Association and other office bearers of the association including Zahoor Ahmad, Mohammad Zahid and Ghulam Hussain.
