IGNOU ties up with French Embassy to train teachers
New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has partnered with French Embassy and the French Ministry of Higher Education for training teachers from India and other South Asian countries in current trends in teaching of French as a foreign Language.
“The Embassy of France in India and the Centre International d??tudes P?dadogiques (CIEP), France is organising a week-long teacher training programme in collaboration with the IGNOU’s School of Foreign Languages (SOFL),” a statement from the varsity said today.
The training will be held from May 24 to May 29, with nearly 90 trainee participants from India and South Asia.
CIEP is a premier institute in France in the field of international cooperation in education and is a key public entity under the French Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research. It is also a member of the Sorbonne Group of Universities and Research Institutes.
“The trainee participants will go through various training modules exposing them to new techniques and current trends in pedagogy of French as a Foreign Language.
“They will simultaneously be initiated into the IGNOU model of teaching-learning and introduced to alternative techniques of material development and delivery through distance mode,” the statement said.
The varsity has entered into this collaboration to garner support towards capacity building and resource creation for effective dissemination of French language teacher training all over the country, it added.
